Thanks for reading, and I hope to hear your stories as well. Byuu is also the creator of the acclaimed bsnes emulator that. Since then, I've become intensely curious of romhacking, and the use of accurate emulation to prepare projects to work on authentic hardware. The current version can run 12 different systems, but the one that started it all was the SNES. My emulator of choice became SNES9x, which I've learned today that Near also had a hand in helping develop. Once I learned how to patch roms into hacks, I was introduced to boatloads of quality projects and translations of SNES/other consoles' games I wouldn't have otherwise been able to experience without emulation. If possible, I'd like to use this post to field any stories you would be willing to share about formative/positive experiences with emulation in positive memory of Near. ares is a cross-platform, open source, multi-system emulator, focusing on accuracy and preservation. This is a member of the gaming community that should be remembered fondly for their hard work. I have just learned about this through both Nintendo Life and Hector Martin, a close friend to Near.
